Shelf Life of Lithium-Ion Batteries

Generally speaking, a lithium-ion battery can be stored for between six months and two years before its performance starts to deteriorate significantly. However, this is just a general guideline, and the actual shelf life of a lithium-ion battery can vary depending on many factors.


To extend the shelf life of a lithium-ion battery, it is important to store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and other heat sources. It is also a good idea to store the battery at around 50% charge, as storing it at full charge or zero charge can also affect its performance.
